The Past
Hyeon was born on a beautiful spring morning on April 5th of 1996 in the capital city of North Korea, Pyongyang. At first he was a very happy and healthy baby and even with famine striking the country the Byun family thrived.
Why?
Because they were in the inner circle with the dictator. The family was well cared for so long as they remained loyal and continued to be guards for the Kim family. Hyeonโs life was was pretty much decided for him. To enviably serve under Kim Jong-il and eventually Kim Jong-un as his personal guard. Naturally at the start, Hyeon thought nothing of this, it was his normal. He trained in martial arts through out his childhood.
In 2011 when Hyeon was 15, Kim Jong-il died at 70 in December placing Kim Jong-un in his place.
Once Hyeon turned 18 in 2014 he was forced to serve in the North Korean military for two years, during this time he had small opportunities to get a glimpse of the world outside of his own country. The realization that the life he was in was one of privilege in North Korea, and he realized how the people of his country were suffering. He learned people often tried to flee and at times, a lot of the time, they failed and it cost them their lives. This was cruel, and unfortunately it was his job at times to play executioner.
By the end of his required service at the age of 20, his views had drastically changed and he no longer wanted any part of this role he was forced to play. Luckily he had more freedoms than most and knowledge that would be of great assistance to the next group of people desperately wanting to escape. It took time, but he earned their trust and he helped them flee the country. He did this once a month for 2 years before he finally made his own escape at the age of 22 in the year of 2018.
He became a free man who now resides in South Korea, he still often assists those who successfully escapes from North Korea.
The Present
Hyeon currently bounces between cities in South Korea and assists those who escaped the north alive. Itโs no secret that Hyeon is a North Korean man, what he keeps secret is what his job was supposed to be and the things he did in service.
Now that heโs living freely and more independent, Hyeon had invested in tattoos and piecing, something heโd never had been aloud to have in the North.
