About me:
Lee Sun-Hee Early career: Sun-Hee was tapped by YG Entertainment for a project that the company was pushing ahead with to form a new girls group. Having proficient guitar skills made her one of the top choices to be drafted into the group along with three other girls whom the label felt all shared great chemistry. Early trials seemed favorable with the girls meshing well together and having a natural vocal harmony that accompanied one another. Months of planning, training and further recruiting took place before the girls were finally given their stage name of U2-40. Due to the humorous intent of the groups name it was decided to make the group of 16 year old girls a bit more sexualized to push sales of albums and concerts. The first album was a huge success with the girls all feeling great about working with one another even if they were just another cookie cutter K-Pop band. Sun-Hee like the other girls all began to see their careers going higher and higher with each album sale announcement and leading up to their first live concert. Success was quite a rocket ride for the group as each album seemed to be bigger than the last. The group was supposed to be a rotation of vocals per song but yet Sun-Hee noticed like others in her private circle that her songs were being left out or not even pushed much like the others. Still though she remained silent on the issue since after all she was one of the main members of the group. Pushing 3 years together the group was more popular than ever but behind the scenes things were far from the girl power and friendship bond they showed on stage and in interviews. After a failed campaign to have some of her songs recorded Sun-Hee came to realize where her place was in the group. Being nothing more than just a front forward dancer moral was low for her. After Hyo-Ri came down sick several concerts were placed on hold until she recovered. However when Sun-Hee came down sick she was told to get better soon and the group would simply soldier on during her absence. It seemed like all she did from that point on was go through the motions on stage and during interviews. Even during recording sessions her vocals were greatly reduced to a simple background vocalizing. After signing new contracts at the start of the fourth year the band took a break to discuss a new album and further changes. Sun-Hee was called to the office by management along with the others in the group. They were all introduced to Bong-Cha a new promising placement for the group. When pressed on if they were moving to a 5 girl group that was when the axe fell. Sun-Hee found herself off the main group and was given the option of being a background dancer or sitting out her contract at home. Not seeing any of her friends stepping up to defend her she simply decided it was best to sit out her contract even if it came at a greatly reduced pay than what she had signed to. Halfway through the year Sun-Hee would request her release from the record company and be denied. After two more requests she was finally given her release from YG Entertainment. After U2-40: Following her release Sun-Hee would stay out of the media spotlight though she had many requests to be interviewed over her release from the group. Rarely there would be sightings of her around Seoul, most of which were at night when she would go out to avoid being seen by people. Becoming sort of a recluse Sun-Hee would spend most of her time writing songs and learning to play instruments. She would be contacted by several record labels all of which she would turn down due to all wanting her to reprise a role in more girl groups like she had been in. Rumors started that in October of that same year that Sun-Hee had left Korea for Japan. With no confirmation from any reliable sources and Sun-Hee being silent on the issue no further media coverage was given. The rest of the year would come to a close with scattered images with no captions given showing up on Sun-Hee's twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages. Envy: Early in the year following Sun-Hee's departure from U2-40 a new album was released in Japan under the name Envy. The album Sojourn as it was titled was a massive hit with both the J-Rock and with its cross over into the J-Pop world as well. Hailed as a large success with multiple massive back to back number one hits -Doom & Gloom, With or Without You- even one song charting on both the pop and rock charts at the same time -All These Things That I've Done-. The songs were embraced despite not being a normal Japanese style both musical and lyrically. Exposure to the group was limited to small venues rather than larger seating as per the request to the leader singer of the group. The follow up album Continuity Error debuted at #1 on the charts with more live concerts announced in bigger seated venues. The big reveal came as the group finally did a sit down interview as to who was who in the band including Sun-Hee who now went by the stage name Envy. Over night her twitter would sky rocket along with other media platforms she was associated with. With huge rave reviews pushing her new career to levels she could not have imagined Envy could just sit back and watch as her star would burn brighter and brighter. Legal Issues: Soon after Envy was revealed to be Sun-Hee who was released from her original record label in Korea she was served with a cease and desist order by her former Korean label. The case was brought up that she had been under contract while making moves towards becoming Envy. The suit would further that she was under a no compete clause all of which was dismissed in court with Sun-Hee being found not guilty of every allegation brought against her. Radio Career: Envy began her radio career hosting a morning talk show for her fans from her own private studio in her home. Splitting her time between doing half in Japanese and the other half in Korean she was soon tapped by several markets to have her broadcasts aired in radio stations in the morning. After a year doing her morning radio show Sun-Hee would get contacted by American satellite radio company SiriusXM to produce and broadcast a weekly show highlighting songs from Japan and Korea with other songs being slipped into the mix. Private Life: Sun-Hee is quite professional when it comes to her private life. Being as popular as she is she takes extra care to make sure her music career is separated from her radio career and her personal life. In an interview she went as far as to say her personal life was boring enough that people would be in tears by it.
