As she opened the bag the stench that hit her nostrils was almost enough to give her a buzz. Bringing the bag to her nose, she took a deep breath in, immediately met with a potent gassy scent with notes of citrus. Her guy had managed to pull through again with another hybrid that would surely make all her problems melt away. Grabbing the pink buster, she shoved a few tight buds into the teeth and snapped the cover back on, twisting the top until the resistance lessened. She was just about to inspect the busted bud when the knock on her door had eyes roll. “Yeah?” Her tone had annoyance, her family was exceptionally close but in her line of work, the time she had to herself was essential to her well being.
The door creaked as it swung open, her father stepping inside with two identical twins that were barely eighteen by the looks of it. Lily lifted hues from the grinder in her hands to the mirror in front of her, meeting the reflection of the two girls before meeting her fathers. Her lips pursed, she already had a good idea what this was about and she was hardly amused. A small huff sounded and she set the buster down on the vanity top, turning in her chair to observe them.
“I’ve brought you a present.” Her father’s tone was full of pride and excitement, beckoning the two girls inside and followed in after them. “They’re here to help.”
“Help?” She knew what that meant, but she loved to watch her father struggle to keep the prey at ease. “What ever would I need help with? Are you implying I’m…. helpless?” Her tone inflicted upwards, offering her father a slow blink and an oblivious look.
He stared back, lips pursing as his eyes narrowed. “Lillian, your assistants may not understand your humour like I do.” It was a warning without saying so, though any threat he made was empty. They both knew that she was irreplaceable to him and that they couldn’t risk anything happening to her.
“Hm?” She played coy for a moment longer before she noticed that vein that twitched to life at her fathers temple. A soft chuckle hummed behind closed lips as she sighed with delight. Hands patted the arms of her chair before she stood and moved towards the two girls, offering them each a bow. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Twins, hm?~” Her expression softened, kindness radiating from her aura. “That must be a very special bond. You’re quite fortune, alas, I’m sibling-less.” She gave a small shrug, but she seemed to have set the other two at ease.
Her father moved to her side, a hand placing itself atop her head before pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “Your mother and I knew you were perfect, why would we ever need anything more?” His hand stroked down her hair before falling to his side, “This is Hae and Mae. They’re both the best in their schools track team.” He smiled at Lillian, Lillian returning it immediately.
“Ah, is that right? Quite impressive.” Her attention shifted back to the girls. “Well, as much as it’s been a pleasure, I’m unfortunately in the middle of something so…” Her eyes shifted back over to her father, “Perhaps I’ll need assistance later.” It was a snarky comment, but he wasn’t able to respond how he really wanted to.
“Of course.” Mantus nodded, ushering the girls from the room, “Just a moment girls.” He said as he closed the door, turning back to Lillian. “You know the deal, Lily. It’s getting to the point where you’re going to put yourself in danger.”
She moved back to the vanity, opening the buster and knocking out some of the weed onto the surface. “It appears to me you seem to think I owe you.” She grabbed a paper, sliding the weed into it and bringing it to her lips as she rolled it, her eyes meeting her fathers reflection, “Is she in your body?” She questioned, her tone stern and unamused.
“I asked you a question.” She cut him off, setting the joint down as she got up again and moved to her father, “Is she inside your head? Does she take control of you?”
He stared her down before finally looking away and shaking his head, “No.”
“That’s what I thought.” She snapped back, backing off and dismissing him without needing to say another word. “When I’m ready, you’ll know. Until then, keep them occupied and well fed.”
She heard him hesitate before the sound of his movement carried him to the door, the next sound was her door closing. She took in another breath, it had been hard to keep herself from snapping but despite the clashes they would have, she loved him unconditionally. He had taught her everything she knew, from hand to hand to marksmen training. She brought the joint to her lips after squeezing in a filter and lit the end, taking a deep drag before a plume of smoke hazed her own reflection. At one time this had been fun and games, she’d even been honoured to be chosen, but now it was just getting annoying. Her father was constantly bringing her new bodies to fill Lilith’s thirst and was always giving her some new challenge to prevent boredom. However, bored and irritation had long since set in. When everything was handed to her on a platter, there was no chase. She felt like a caged lioness with a feeding shoot that had lamb on tap.
