Born to a relatively middle class family, hoping to climb the ladder of social status by toadying to the rich and powerful as much as possible – Clarence found himself enjoying the simple art of etiquette. Which fork to use, when to pull out a chair for a lady, properly greeting those of certain statures and ages are all his speciality – and he’s damned proud of how far he’s come. Nevertheless, he does not discriminate based on age, class, or other social status like many of those in his industry – believing that everyone, at least once, deserves to be doted upon hand and foot.
To serve, to bring smiles upon people’s faces, with both the boring bourgeoisie and the excited faces of those deeming the evening to be ‘fancy’ are all that brought him joy. When talk of retirement came about, he couldn’t stand the idea – and continues to work even as a senior citizen. The thought of retirement genuinely scares him, as he can’t imagine his life without his work.
For around half of his life, Clarence has been a widower. He fell in love with his late wife, Sophia, at the tender age of just fifteen years old, and was married by the age of nineteen. Unfortunately, his wife had a hereditary condition that weakened her lungs, and eventually lost her life while they were in their mid-late 30s. Since then, Clarence has sunk his life into his work. Dating after loss wasn’t acceptable when he was a young man – and had since accepted a single life with little to amuse him outside of work other than his small French bulldog, and a small collection of plants in his allotment. Once social barriers were broken, and dating, relationships, and second marriages became more common among those that were divorced and widowed, Clarence found himself lacking confidence in his own attractiveness, deeming himself too old for such encounters.
Despite this, he sees himself as a soother of broken hearts. Often those without many to divulge such information, turn to the butler. He pours them a drink, makes a recommendation while listening to the woes of those as high up as Dukes and Duchesses, as well as those looking just to have a little treat during low moments.
Who I'd like to meet: Just to people are aware, I am mainly here to roleplay romance storylines. I absolutely love the idea of beautiful, older men thinking they cannot find love and being surprised by the turnout.
In view of this please do not add, or accept me if you are unwilling to write a romantic story with a senior citizen.
I am of course happy with slice of life themed stories, and non-romantic storylines that have a good plot going to them. If you have anything along these lines in mind, please let me know. I don’t bite!
This account contains a trigger warning for age gap relationships. It’s inevitable, given the nature of what I like to write. Of course I’m comfortable with shipping Clarence with people of any ages (from a 2 year old android – to a 600 year old demigod), but the majority of characters are of course, far younger than him. Of course if someone had a charming older lady as a character, I’d be happen to ship Clarence with her as well.
Please note that Clarence is mainly heterosexual, with a strong preference for women and femininity. Any male/non-binary/gender non confirming people who are interested in a romance storyline should have a character that’s at least feminine if not entirely female.
